ModaXX – Karin Hacobian Leukemia Research Fund

Karin Hacobian was a friend, a talented artist, and a free spirit. Sadly, Karin lost her battle to leukemia in the spring of 1991. During her final months, she established the “Karin Hacobian Leukemia Research Fund” (KHLRF) through the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and raised monies through an international exhibit of her personal artwork. Following her passing, Karin’s friends established what became known as MODA.

MODA honoured Karin’s life by organizing fashion shows to raise funds for KHLRF. Five years in a row, MODA drew crowds exceeding 2000 attendees and contributed thousands of dollars to the KHLRF.
I volunteered the best way I could back then and participated in the inaugural fashion show in 1991. Remember this was a long time ago, so I have no qualms in posting an image from the show. Sigh!

This year marks the 20th anniversary of MODA. In celebration of this milestone, a reunion event was held with the proceeds going to the “Princess Margaret Hospital Fund” in memory of Karin Hacobian. Once again, I volunteered my services and devoted my time and equipment in setting up a photo booth to capture the guests as they arrived.

To make a contribution to this important charity, please send an email to Anoush, one of the volunteers organizing the event.
Thanks in advance,
Joe.
